Industria News
A corrugated metal gasket is a sealing component pressed from thin metal sheet into a wave-like profile, built to compress and recover under load so it keeps a tight seal between flange surfaces even as temperature and pressure shift during operation.
Typical Operating Temperature Range
When compressed between two flanges, the corrugated metal core generates contact pressure at each wave crest rather than across a flat surface. This concentrates sealing force where it matters most, compensates for surface irregularities and thermal expansion, and lets the gasket recover slightly as pressure and temperature fluctuate during service.
Single Corrugated
Simple wave structure with good general-purpose flexibility
Double Corrugated
Higher sealing performance for more demanding conditions
Graphite Faced
Facing layer improves surface adaptability and heat resistance
Corrugated metal gaskets are common across petrochemical pipelines and reactors, power generation equipment such as boilers and steam turbines, chemical processing systems, oil and gas pipelines and offshore platforms, and heat exchangers that see repeated temperature cycling.
| Feature | Corrugated Metal | Soft Gasket | Spiral Wound |
| Temperature resistance | Excellent | Moderate | Excellent |
| Pressure resistance | High | Moderate | High |
| Recovery performance | Excellent | Limited | Good |
| Service life | Long | Medium | Long |
Selection Checklist
Match the gasket to maximum working temperature and thermal cycling, confirm operating pressure and fluctuation range, choose a metal grade suited to the chemical media involved, and verify compatibility with the flange type and bolt load before installation.
